The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Uttar Pradesh government regarding the case of misconduct against senior lawyer Gaurav Bhatia, highlighting the absence of CCTV cameras on the court premises.
The Supreme Court took cognizance of a report indicating malfunctioning CCTV cameras within the court complex.
During the hearing, the bench noted that, despite repeated requests to rectify the CCTV cameras, no improvements were made. What did the court say? The Supreme Court had previously ordered the district court administration to secure CCTV cameras in the case of Gaurav Bhatia’s assault.
However, the Supreme Court was informed that the CCTV footage couldn’t be provided as the cameras were defective. The court emphasized that they would not take this matter lightly.
The Chief Justice said, “We will not take this matter lightly. No lawyer can be forced to leave the court.” The incident occurred at the Greater Noida court.
Gaurav Bhatia, a BJP spokesperson and senior advocate, arrived at a court in Greater Noida on March 21 for a case hearing. During this time, advocate Muskaan Gupta was also accompanying him.
As soon as they reached the court, local lawyers attacked them. The lawyers even snatched Bhatia’s tie. It is noteworthy that lawyers inside a district court were on strike, and it was during this time that Gaurav Bhatia and Muskaan Gupta had visited the court. It was during this period that the lawyers misbehaved with them.
